Brazil has been a gorgeous and frustrating blur, and the thunderstorm that has just settled down upon us as I sit down to type (now that sounds unwise, doesnt it?) is almost the image of the tempestuous and exhilirating time Ive had.

After momentarily entertaining the notion that we would be accomplishing intellectual work in my seminar, we opted for open-ended and often hilarious conversation, which crept from classroom to poolside as the week progressed, and usually segued into long bouts of drinking and eating each night.

After discovering that a caipirinha in our four star hotel costs R$2.90, which is like a buck, we all felt ghetto rich. Basically, living in New York, you learn to unconsciously restrain yourself from bad behavior, and you tell yourself its because you are grown up now. But then a mixture of warm sun and cheap prices, and you realize that its just poverty keeping you from the lifestyle of debauchery that is your inner truth.

More soon because my internet card has just run out.
